Juried Exhibition Season Since January

2025 Juried Show Schedule of Events

I wanted to share the shows and competitions I've been invited to so far this year.  It seems like I become so busy, that I forget to share the successes and what's going on with my art journey. Here it is so far:

  • July 17th - 19: Ann Arbor Street Art Fair @ N. University and Thayer area of Ann Arbor, MI. Booth number TBD (applied between November and mid-February)

How Do You Do These Juried Events ?

Each year there's a slice of it I call Jury Season. It has two phases to it. First is, figure out what juried exhibitions are coming up, usually November through about April, and which ones I will apply for during that period. There are other times of year to apply for other types of competitions and art fairs as well, but in this first group it is important to me to apply for prestigious shows to compete with a group of incredible artists. I also choose to limit the number of shows. I find that too many means I'm spread very thin.

The next phase only happens if I am accepted into the shows I've applied to. Each one accepted is carefully packed and either shipped or hand delivered depending on how far it is. I've been very blessed to have been accepted into quite a few of them, and am grateful that this year seems to be successful so far.

Art Fairs

The real gem, and very different from what I've done before is adding an outdoor art fair. I was wait listed for the Winter Park Art Fair in Florida this year, but I figure that at least I've made it on the radar. Instead of starting off with small fairs, I went for a couple of the largest and well-known. I'm familiar with both the Ann Arbor and the Winter Park fairs. They draw huge crowds and only show fine art original works. If this works out, I will try to add a few more.

Staying on Track

I showed my work somewhat in the past, but since 2017,  I was determined to get back on the journey path by showing locally, and then after moving to Texas set a plan to again, start locally and regionally as I built a new body of work. Honestly, these shows help build a more recent record of activity and reputation. Other artists I see doing many juried shows and have memberships that go along with them. I don't know how they can do so many with all of the shipping that has to happen and time to paint. For me, my time to paint is interrupted. For now I'll just keep it going, expanding by selling in person and see what happens.
